Add raisins and nuts. Combine the egg, vanilla and shortening; add to mixture. Dissolve the soda in pineapple and add. Stir until just blended. Pour into a greased 8&#8243;x4&#8243;x4&#8243; loaf pan and bake at 350 F. about one hour or until done. Cool on rack.
